Sprayed-on ceramic coatings increase furnace life and efficiency

Journal Article · · Energy Manage. Tech.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5340198

No longer theoretical technology, ceramic coatings for metals and refractories are available now for use on new or used equipment. By increasing the radiating effect inside furnaces, these coatings can provide energy savings of 15 to 30% while extending the service life of the coated substrate from 50 to 700%. The application and performance of these coatings are discussed.
