H.R. 1722 would amend the Natural Gas Policy Act of 1978 to eliminate wellhead price and nonprice controls on the first sale of natural gas, and to make technical and conforming amendments to such Act. The bill describes interim decontrol; permanent decontrol of wellhead prices is effective January 1, 1993. The amendments pertain to contract duration and certain additional natural gas committed or dedicated to interstate commerce. Several sections are listed which are repealed. Other amendments are described which are only effective in 1993, in contrast to earlier ones which are effective on enactment.
