This report presents statistics on general housing characteristics for the United States by inside and outside standard metropolitan statistical areas (SMSAs). Data are based on information from a sampling of housing units, collected by personal interview from October to December 1975. Part A provides data on general housing characteristics; part B on indicators of housing and neighborhood quality; part C on financial characteristics; part D on recent mover households; part E on urban and rural housing characteristics; and part F on financial characteristics cross-classified by indicators of housing and neighborhood quality. Appendix A describes the geographic area classifications and provides definitions and explanations of the subjects covered in the report. Appendix B presents information on sample design, estimation, and accuracy of the data. (MCW)
