CERN's approach to FASTBUS software

Journal Article · · IEEE Trans. Nucl. Sci.; (United States)
Software (and hardware) has been produced to support FASTBUS Processor Interfaces. It is based on a library of Routines callable from high-level languages such as FORTRAN or BASIC. The Routines are implemented by compiling interface-independent Lists. List Elements can be regarded as machine code, called F-Code, for a hypothetical FASTBUS Machine. The Lists are executed by interface-dependent FASTBUS List Processors, implemented in software, hardware or a mixture. The List Processors can also be used by Event Builders, in a data acquisition environment, to execute pre-compiled Lists.
