Robotic inspection of reactor internals and fuel transfer channel

In two instances, during 1987 and 1988, Public Service Electric and Gas (PSE and G) has used the MiniRover remote underwater inspection vehicle at its Salem (new Jersey) Nuclear Power Plant. In 1987, MiniRover was used at Salem 1 during the 10-year in -service inspection outage, and in 1988 it was used at Salem 2 during the station's 4th refueling outage. This article describes PSE and G's field experience with this robotic device, and provides information on its performance and cost-benefit.
