The changing face of the gas industry

This article describes the current market situation in the Natural Gas Industry resulting from the natural gas bubble (surplus supply) and controversial Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) regulations. Although the FERC rules were the result of pressure from local distribution companies (LDC) and industrial customers, these rules have not addressed the problem of take-or-pay liabilities. There is concern that passing the take-or-pay liability to end users may result in loss of load to alternate fuel sources or alternative gas suppliers.
