The TVA algorithm for interpreting readings from Panasonic type 802 multi-element TLDs uses a calculational method similar to that for unfolding neutron spectra. A response matrix is constructed for the four elements in the Panasonic TLD based on tests performed in a variety of single-component radiation fields. The matrix is then used to unfold the responses of the elements when the dosimeter is exposed to mixed radiation fields. In this paper the response metric and the calculational method are described in detail, and test results are presented that verify the algorithm's effectiveness.
