Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5328542
The impact that private sector energy conservation research, development, and demonstration would have on increasing energy prices and decreasing availability of energy supplies is discussed. A description of decision making on investment and research and development in the private sector is given. General arguments supporting the conclusion that the private sector may develop and utilize mid- and long-term conservation technologies, but not always in a timely fashion, are discussed. Also, arguments specifically applicable to the industrial, buildings and community systems, and transportation sectors are analyzed. (MCW)
