Specific facts on house designs, window treatment, insulating existing houses, buying room air conditioners, and weatherizing the home are covered in additional articles. Energy facts on the use of carpets, heat pumps, fireplaces, thermal insulation, and lighting systems are presented. Energy saved from proper operation and maintenance of automobiles and efficient use of appliances are discussed. Information on appliance energy labels, performing a home energy audit, and how to read the utility meter is given.
