A survey of chemical engineering applications in supercomputing
- Cray Research, Inc. (US)
Chemical engineering researchers from universities and national laboratories have been using supercomputers for years. Now, chemical engineers in industry are following suit. Supercomputers allow them to look at more detailed models, investigate more design alternatives, see faster solution times, and visualize an increasingly complex body of information. This presentation has two goals: to show examples of the industrial problems that companies face, and the codes that their employees use to solve them. To encourage enterprising individuals and groups to provide software applications that take advantage of supercomputer power. At this time the dominant applications area is computational fluid dynamics, for polymer processing.
