At present, flow heads are used for connecting injection wellheads. However, the operating conditions of flow heads in oil and injection wells differ. The flow heads in oil wells in the main E. oil-producing regions function at low pressures in the wellhead and are subjected to maximum pressures only when various technological operations, such as killing of the wells before repair, starting a well by means of a compressor, etc., are carried out. Injection wells, flow heads, for example, at an operating pressure of 125 atm, can be used for many years at a pressure of 100 to 120 atm practically without stoppage. In the fluid flow in oil wells is tens and, sometimes, 100 to 200 cu m, the volume of water injection into a well is many times larger, and in a number of wells, 2,500 cu m per day. These volumes determine the high flow rates of the fluid particularly when master valves are used for throttling. The operatives have met with serious difficulties, because of insufficient corrosion resistance of the flow heads, particularly with brine injection. Design criteria for various types of valves are listed.
