Title: Hydrocracking's role in resid schemes. [HC Unibon process]

Journal Article · · Oil Gas J.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5323352

Commercially proven residuum reduction processes provide refiners the means to upgrade the low value portion of the crude barrel. These processes and process combinations yield overhead products which are excellent feedstocks for the HC Unibon process. This single-stage hydrocracking operation gives a high yield of good quality distillate products. Jet plus diesel fuel yields as high as 94 vol % of Light Arabian reduced crude are possible. Using a set of reasonable product values it is shown that the high resid conversion operations continued to show a favorable product value response. The visbreaking and Demex resid reduction schemes coupled with the hydrocracking operation showed the most attractive economics.
