Configuring the thermochemical hydrogen sulfuric acid process step for the Tandem Mirror Reactor

Conference · · Proc., Intersoc. Energy Convers. Eng. Conf.; (United States)
OSTI ID:5322071
This paper identifies the sulfuric acid step as the critical part of the thermochemical cycle in dictating the thermal demands and temperature requirements of the heat source. The General Atomic Sulfur-Iodine Cycle is coupled to a Tandem Mirror Reactor. A projection of the energy supply and demand picture beyond the turn of the century shows (1) a substantial role for fusion both in the generation and in the production of synthetic fuels, starting with hydrogen. 17 refs.
