The study of the [sup 16]O+[sup 12]C[r arrow][sup 12]C+[sup 12]C+[alpha] reaction performed at [ital E]([sup 16]O)=113 MeV shows evidence for the excitation of resonant states of [sup 24]Mg, eventually decaying in the [sup 12]C+[sup 12]C channel, with a width of about 500 keV. From the angular correlation of the two emitted [sup 12]C ions a value [ital J]=14 is obtained for the spin of two resonances at 35.1 and 36.3 MeV excitation energy. This allows for an intepretation in terms of quasimolecular states of [sup 24]Mg. The data are compared with previous results obtained at 85 MeV incident energy, and the role of the angular momentum transfer in the reaction process is discussed.
