Probabilistic leak analysis for LMFBR primary coolant piping

Technical Report ·
DOI:https://doi.org/10.2172/5319969· OSTI ID:5319969
The development of a probabilistic analysis for a leak in the primary coolant piping in an LMFBR is described. In a detailed example, the analysis is used to evaluate a point estimate of the conditional probability of pipe wall penetration as a function of initial crack depth for the inlet elbow in the reactor primary coolant system of the Fast Flux Text Facility (FFTF). The result is used to demonstrate an approach for specifying a probabilistic criterion for the crack inspection of piping to meet an overall safety objective.
