Towards determining {phi}{sub 1} with B{r_arrow}D{sup ({asterisk})}{bar D}{sup ({asterisk})}

We present an isospin analysis of the decay modes B{r_arrow}D{bar D}, D{sup {asterisk}}{bar D}, D{bar D}{sup {asterisk}}, and D{sup {asterisk}}{bar D}{sup {asterisk}}, which allows the determination of the final-state interaction phases. As these transitions have branching ratios of the order 10{sup {minus}4} or larger, they could be useful in detecting the CP-violating phase {phi}{sub 1}{equivalent_to}arg({minus}V{sub cb}{sup {asterisk}}V{sub cd}V{sub tb}V{sub td}{sup {asterisk}}) in the first-round experiments of a B-meson factory. The problem of penguin pollution may still be present. Once the Kobayashi-Maskawa matrix elements are known, it is possible to obtain the magnitudes and relative phases of hadronic matrix elements for B{r_arrow}D{sup ({asterisk})}{bar D}{sup ({asterisk})}.
