Urea enhances safety in SCR applications

This article describes the use of urea as a safer alternative to using ammonia in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) systems of fossil fuel power plants. The topics of the article include safety concerns regarding the transport and use of ammonia, using urea in SCR systems, SCR catalyst and the results of using urea, costs of using urea versus ammonia, and using urea in selective non-catalytic reduction systems.
