1983 Offshore Rig Register

Journal Article · · Offshore; (United States)
OSTI ID:5315496
An Offshore Rig Register which lists 766 mobile and 408 platform rigs is published. This register, the most complete listing ever compiled for rigs used in the water, covers details such as owner, date of construction and shipyard, size of crew and dozens of other incidental facts on each of the units. Equipment listed for each rig includes power sources, drawworks, mud pumps, derricks, cranes and blowout preventers. The purpose of the Offshore Rig Register is to bring into focus the present market situation. With hundreds of idle rigs worldwide, there's a need to distinguish one from another. And equipment lists and capability sizes are one measure of a rig. The information contained in this register was compiled by Electronic Rig Stats, a statistical gathering affiliate.
