Reduction of excess low-frequency noise in rf-biased SQUID's

We have observed an excess low-frequency noise associated with the operation of a commercial rf-biased SQUID (superconducting quantum interference device) sensor in freely convecting liquid helium. A simple technique for reducing convection and suppressing this low-frequency noise is described.
