An improved ribbon-shaped conductor is made up of several individual conductors each containing a plurality of superconductors in which the individual conductors are fastened side-by-side on a flat side of a reinforcing strip with mutual spacing between individual conductors to provide a ribbon-shaped conductor which substantially reduces the excitation build-up losses caused by transversal currents in superconducting magnet coils.
