Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:5310183

The Lemberger Transport and Recycle Landfill was operated as an unlined hazardous-waste landfill from 1969 to 1976. The site is listed on the National Priorities List. An estimated 800,000-1,000,000 gallons of tar and paint sludge have been buried at the site. Large quantities of aluminum dust were also buried in the landfill. Ground water and surface water monitoring on-site showed levels of trans-1,2-dichloroethylene (trans-1,2-DCE), 1,1-dichloroethylene (1,1-DCE), 1,1-dichloroethane (1,1-DCA), 1,2-dichloroethane (1,2-DCE), trichlorethylene (TCE), and chloroform. Based on the available information, the site is considered to be of potential public health concern because of the risk to human health caused by the likelihood of exposure to hazardous substances via groundwater at residential wells.
