Recovery of methane from solid carbonaceous subterranean formations

This patent describes a method of recovering methane from a solid carbonaceous subterranean formation, penetrated by at least one injection well and at least one production well. It comprises: injecting a first fluid that desorbs methane into the subterranean formation through at least one injection well; injecting a second fluid that desorbs methane into the subterranean formation through at least one injection well, the second fluid having a desorbing efficiency less a desorbing efficiency of the first fluid; and recovering methane through the at least one production well.
