This patent describes a process comprising removing contaminant containing at least one of the group of arsenic, vanadium and nickel from petroliferous liquids by contacting the liquid at an elevated temperature of at least about 20/sup 0/C with a polystyrene-divinyl-benzene polymer crosslinked with up to about 20% divinyl-benzene and which polymer contains up to about 30% by weight of catechol ligands.
