The authors discuss a process of permanent magnet preparation. Coercivity is obtained by breaking grains of the bulk material by hot-working cast ingots of NdFeB alloy. The result is a permanent magnetic material directly from the as-cast alloy. Addition of Al and/or Dy increases largely coercivity as observed in sintered magnets. Co is effective in raising the Curie temperature without affecting coercivity. Other additional elements are not improving the magnetic properties.
