The 1986 Annual Report of the National Acid Precipitation Assessment Program (NAPAP) was submitted on July 6, 1987 to the President and Congress by the Federal Interagency Task Force on Acid Precipitation. The Report summarizes the major scientific issues that were addressed by the National Program in 1986, and outlines progress within each of the research areas of the federally-funded program. Of special interest is the section on Mid-term Findings (1980-1986) which encapsulates NAPAP research results and accomplishments that have reduced or will serve to reduce important uncertainties associated with acidic deposition and its causes, extent, effects, and management. The Mid-term Findings of the Task Group on Atmospheric Chemistry are presented.
