A commercial sweet corn variety, Golden Jubilee, was exposed at 0.20 ppm and 0.35 ppm ozone to determine the nature of possible yield reductions and to provide injury criteria for future field studies. Significant reductions in yield included a 9.3% and 29.3% reduction in fresh weight of ears and a 12.5% and 22.3% reduction in dry weight of kernels on the 0.20 ppm and 0.35 ppm plants. The fumigated plants displayed an overall loss in vigor and stature which was easily detectable in a visual comparison with the control plants. A 10.3% and 14.5% reduction in height and a 18.2% and 43.4% reduction in dry weight of plant was recorded on the 0.20 ppm and 0.35 ppm treatments, respectively. 17 references, 2 figures, 1 table.
