Effect of atmospheric conditions on the composition of shale oil in oil-impregnated wood

The question of qualitative and quantitative changes which take place in shale oils when the wood they are used to impregnate is utilized has not thus far been studied either by us or abroad. In this context, we have carried out studies on shale oils extracted from impregnated wood. The research was directed toward two objectives: a study of the physico-chemical properties of the extracted oils and a check of the change in their toxic properties with respect to wood-destroying fungi.
