This book compiles papers presented at a conference on thermal insulation. The subject of the conference was guarded hot plate and heat flow meter methodology. Some of the topics included are: thermal conductance of liquefied gas tank insulation; heat flow meter apparatus and transfer standards used for error analysis; present and future research on guarded hot plate and heat flow meter apparatus; and field measurements of thermal transfer properties of insulation systems. The guarded hot plat method is described for measuring the thermal conductivity of thermal insulations and materials of low thermal conductivity.
