Low pump power, passively Q-switched erbium-doped fiber laser

A novel structure FP cavity erbium-doped fiber laser is reported in this paper. The passively Q-switched operation of the laser has been achieved by using a bulk semiconductor waveguide as a saturable absorber. Under 15mW pump power, pulse of 2{micro}s full width at half maximum (FWHM) and peak power close to 22mW has been obtained.
