Decays of heavy Higgs bosons

Journal Article · · Phys. Rev., D; (United States)
We consider the possible decay modes of a heavy Higgs boson in the mass range M/sub W/( approx. 80 GeV) < or = M/sub H/ < or = 1 TeV within the standard model of Weinberg and Salam. For M/sub H/>2M/sub W/,Z we find the decay modes H ..-->.. W/sup +/W/sup -/ or Z/sup 0/Z/sup 0/ to dominate the usual fermion-antifermion decay (f-barf); for M/sub W/,Z < or = M/sub H/ < or = 2M/sub W/,Z we find the Higgs-boson width still dominated by f-barf although new decays such as H ..-->.. W/sup + -/+f-barf' and H ..-->.. Z/sup 0/+f-barf are present. These new decay modes are significantly phase-space suppressed and are found to contribute with branching ratios less than 1%.
