Software manager's workstation

A description is given of work being performed for the US Office of Naval Research aimed at augmenting the skill and experience levels of software managers by providing them with a personal workstation tailored to management of software system development. The workstation will feature a friendly interactive interface, expert systems to provide expertise required in software management, and a set of management tools. It will support the manager in such activities as planning, contingency analysis, report generation, and software engineering technical decisions. The author describes the workstation, the work that has been performed to date, the work yet to be accomplished, and the expected benefits. 6 references.
