Reliable continuous face haulage systems for use with high production continuous mining machines are now a reality in the USA coal industry. Long-Airdox Company, Oak Hill, West Virginia, United States, manufactures such a system, designed for use in seams above 1.07 meters (42 inches) high. The standard unit for use with 9.1 to 10.9 metric ton per minute (10 to 12 ton per minute) continuous miners is normally equipped with belt. However, Long-Airdox has also built versions of this system employing chain conveyors, mainly for operators having extremely difficult mining conditions, including excessive amounts of water and rock. The Long-Airdox ''Full Dimension Continuous Haulage System'' is an articulated, powered extension to the tail of the continuous mining machine. The coal is carried in a continuous stream from the tail of the miner in cascading sequence from bridge to MBC to bridge and so on, until it reaches the outby dolly, through which it cascades on to the panel belt to be carried directly outside in uninterrupted sequence.
