Marine Vertical Seismic Profiling

To improve exploration prospect evaluation and production reservoir delineation, marine vertical seismic profiling was developed as an added tool to measure seismic wave reflections and propagation parameters in the vicinity of boreholes at seismic frequencies. This new VSP tool can be used to determine: accurate time-to-depth relationships, interval velocities, correlation of seismic datanear and below the borehole and to both logs and drilling information measured in depth, seismic wave attenuation estimates, improve modeling of synthetic seismograms, improve processing of surface CDP data, and improve structural and stratigraphic interpretation of surface CDP data.
