Hydrogen from biomass depolarized water electrolysis

Biomass-derived materials are shown to be viable candidates for lowering the cell voltage of water electrolysis by substituting the direct electrochemical oxidation of biomass-derived materials for the anode oxygen evolution reaction. This paper discusses cyclic voltammetry data on the electrochemical oxidation of glucose in aqueous sulfuric acid. 19 refs.
