Vessels with induction heating improve temperature control

A precise and simplified reaction system resulted when United Technologies' Inmont Corp. put induction heated reactors in its Greenville, Ohio, plant. Induction heating was cost effective because of its close control of skin temperatures and reduced equipment requirement. The system is streamlined and easy to maintain. Also, induction heating gives temperature control in a continuous range so the system adapts itself well to processes requiring widely differing reaction temperatures. Induction heating is available with power units ranging from 15-200,000 kW. Final working termperatures can be attained up to 2400/sup 0/F. Vessels are available for heat requirements ranging from 3-5 million Btu/hr with capacities up to 12,000 gal.
