Antimisting additives of aviation fuels are discussed. An apparatus used to measure elongational viscosity and molecular weight is examined. The use of the Mark-Houwink equation for determining the viscosity average molecular weight of polyisobutylene samples dissolved in isooctane is also discussed. It is concluded that this system is applicable for estimating the ultra high molecular weights of macromolecules used as antimisting additives.
