The typescripts of 26 papers derived from a symposium held at the ACS National Meeting in New York in 1986 make up this volume. Eleven of them come under the heading Geochemistry, eight under Processing, and seven under Characterization. Most of the papers are reports of original research, but the first one is a 38-page major reviews, Geochemistry of Metal Complexes in Petroleum, Source Rocks, and Coal: An Overview (R.H. Philby and G.J. Van Berkel). A large portion of the papers are concerned with porphyrin complexes, especially of nickel and vanadium. Well indexed.
