The relation between sin[sup 2][theta][sub eff][sup lept] frequently employed in CERN LEP analyses and the M[bar S] parameter sin[sup 2][cflx [theta]][sub [ital W]]([ital m][sub [ital Z]]) is discussed and their difference evaluated by means of an explicit calculation.
