During steam stimulation in the Cold Lake oil-sand deposit, the reservoir is often fractured to obtain sufficient injectivity. The fracturing, pressurizing, and heating of the reservoir induce stress changes. These changes are analyzed with a finite-element program. Results suggest that the induced stress changes have implications for field operations.
