Resid catalytic cracking process utilizing ZSM-5 for increased gasoline octane

Patent ·
OSTI ID:5282827
This patent describes a process for catalytically cracking deep cut vacuum gas oils and reduced crudes containing metal contaminants to increase gasoline octane. It comprises: introducing a hydrocarbon feedstock which contains vanadium and sodium contaminants into a reaction zone of a catalytic cracking unit; and contacting the hydrocarbon feedstock with a catalytic cracking catalyst, which includes a zeolite component having the structure of ZSM-5, whereby the hydrocarbon feedstock is cracked in the reaction zone of the catalytic cracking unit resulting in increased gasoline octane of the hydrocarbon products with increased tolerance of the zeolite component having the structure of ZSM-5 to poisoning by sodium and vanadium.
