The contribution of the vortex fluctuations to the specific heat of the vortex lattice, [ital C][sub [ital v]], in a highly anisotropic layered superconductor is calculated for the field [bold B] perpendicular to the layers in the interval [ital H][sub c1][much lt][ital B][much lt][ital H][sub [ital c]2]. The model of the quantum overdamped oscillator for vortex vibrations is used to describe the dynamics of vortices at low temperatures. The specific heat [ital C][sub [ital v]]([ital T],[ital B]) is linear in temperature at low [ital T] and increases with field, [ital C][sub [ital v]][proportional to]ln[ital B] in the case of weak pinning and [ital C][sub [ital v]][proportional to][ital B] in the case of strong pinning.
