A superconducting magnetic coil with a winding whose cooling possibilities have been considerably improved is described. The tape-shaped conductor of the coil winding has three layers of which the two outer ones are comprised of superconducting material and electrically normal conducting metal. The middle layer is comprised of a material which possesses high tensile strength. Cooling ducts are provided between the outer layers and the insulation placed upon said layers and/or between the outer layers and the middle layer.
