Enthalpy changes and equilibrium constants for the formation of the hydrogen-bonded complexes of n-butyl alcohol with triethyl-, tripropyl-, and tributylamine in cyclohexane, CCl/sub 4/, and benzene solvents have been determined by calorimetry. Solvatochromic parameters have been utilized to correlate the enthalpy changes and equilibrium constants for a given solvent. Solvent effects on the enthalpy are due to specific and polarizability interactions. Equilibrium constants in solvating medium are determined by the enthalpy of solvation of the alcohol and amine.
