The results of clearcutting both a northern hardwood poletimber stand by a conventional whole-tree harvesting system and a sawtimber stand by several combinations of whole-tree chipping and sawlog recovery are presented. Chip and sawlog yields, production data, costs and potential profits are included. The most profitable integrated harvesting method involved using the whole-tree chipper at the landing simultaneously with the saw log recovery system. (Refs. 11).
