Symmetrized Coulomb-Glauber-Ochkur cross-sections for the excitation of hydrogenic ions

A simple analytic expression for the Coulomb-Glauber-Ochkur amplitudes is derived for the exchange scattering of electrons from hydrogenlike ions. These exchange amplitudes are combined with the direct Coulomb-Glauber amplitude, derived by Thomas and Franco, to calculate the exchange-corrected cross sections for the processes e/sup -/ + He/sup +/(1s) ..-->.. e/sup -/ + He/sup +/(n = 2 and 3). The results are compared with other theoretical predictions and with available experimental data.
