Film badges

Technical Report ·
OSTI ID:52795

This memorandum contains suggestions concerning film badges and procedures for processing, examining, and filing of the films. It is suggested that the badge include a cross of lead or cadmium to permit the distinction between hard and soft radiation. It is also suggested that a calibrated exposed sensitometer strip from the same lot of film be developed with each batch and that, by the use of a visual comparator, this strip be used to rate the exposure registered by each film. X-ray film is suggested for this use. It is recommended that conclusive evidence be obtained that metal handling procedures are safe. The permanent filing of the exposed films is discussed.
