Utah energy-facility-siting study. Phase I: Great Basin

A detailed study was made of methods for predicting the electric power demand in the Great Basin Area of Utah, of the sites available for constructing coal-fired power plants to meet this demand, and of the environmental and socio-economic impacts of building these plants within existing legal and regulatory constraints. Information is included on the availability of sites; coal and water supplies; the modeling of environmental and socio-economic impacts; site selection methodologies; economic feasibility studies; the regulatory processes; and alternative technologies.
