Power and thermal efficiency of a spark ignition engine fueled by butanol-acetone blends were roughly equivalent to gasoline. Mixture distribution was less uniform with the blends, reducing the speed and load flexibility of the engine. Mixture temperature, exhaust temperature, and oxides of nitrogen emissions were all reduced while operating on the blends. (Refs. 13).
