This paper reports on Grove Engineering's MICROSHIELD which is a gamma radiation shielding analysis program for the IBM Personal Computer. It is an enhanced adaptation of ISOSHLD II, a proven mainframe gamma shielding code developed at Pacific Northwest Laboratory in the mid-1960s. MICROSHIELD sells for about $525 and requires an IBM-PC or compatible microcomputer with MS-DOS 2.0, 128K of RAM, one 5-1/4 disk drive, and a printer. A graphics support package with a high resolution color graphics board is also recommended, as MICROSHIELD can support dimensional data entry from the graphics display.
