This bibliography provides an up-to-date comprehensive listing of nearly 1100 articles, books, government bulletins, and other publications. It does not provide technical information or emphasize a particular viewpoint or approach. The spectrum of opinion extends from those who feel that the model of the industrialized nations should be imposed on the Third World nations to those who feel that a new model must evolve that rejects the concept of an industrialized society. The bibliography is divided into five parts: (1) general background material, (2) natural resources, (3) economic and commercial considerations, (4) governmental and political facets, and (5) social aspects. The references cited are pertinent to governmental agencies, university scholars, and world economic institutions.
